Fokker Dr. 1
| The Fokker DR I is maybe the most popular German plane of the First World War, because it was the plane of Manfred of Richthofen the biggest ace ever. The plane itself gave only mediocre results. Only his climb and dive capacity were fantastic almost legendary. His construction looked like the one of the Sopwith-triplane, but had shorter and wider wings. The motor of the Fokker Dr.1 was build by Reinhold Platz. The body of the plane was made of steal and the wings of wood. From August 1917 until Mai 1918 420 example were build. At this time only the best pilots flew this plane in CAP missions. | ![]() |
